Has anyone every missed a flight on purpose to get out of the change fee?

My work has purchased a round trip ticket for me to travel for work to St. Louis. I need to stay a few more days for personal reasons and am willing to pay for the change. The change fee is $150 plus any extra costs associated with the new flight, but I have found a 1 way ticket for $110. Are there any issues with having 2 return flights booked and not show up for the 1st on in order to avoid the change fee?|||As long as it is the last flight on the ticket you are fine, but if you try that on the outbound flight they will cancel your return
